New York City’s The New Surreal consists of Danny Chait – Guitar and Vocals, Ross Wilson – Bass, and Nick Smeraski – Drums. The band began in 2003 when Chait met Wilson during their first week at NYU. The two immediately began performing Chait’s compositions at bars and clubs on New York's Bleecker Street and the surrounding area. The two played on with various band lineups until the fall of 2005, when they met drummer, Nick Smeraski, while studying in Prague. As they returned to New York and began performing, The New Surreal was born.
The New Surreal released their first EP, “Waiting for the Fall...” in January, 2008, and their first full-length album was released in August, 2008.
