JT’s BIOGRAPHY
By his late teens, John Tomaino had published a handful of songs with New York publishers, DSM.
‘Intelligent pop’ is how his acoustic-driven music is sometimes categorized. It’s a showcase for his eclectic songwriting style, driven by the vision that songs should do more than just provide short-term entertainment... It’s music “with an extended warranty”, as JT puts it.
JT’s music is loaded with strong melodies, but you won’t find the clichéd lyrics synonymous with plastic pop. A published creative writer, JT shuns the slimy window dressing of over-produced music in favour of songs played by musicians who know their place as slaves to the songs. Whatever the songs need, they get. The result is a production destined to last.
Along the way, JT has won a string of songwriting awards, including Brash’s Music Australia best unsigned artist.
In October 2006, JT recorded his debut EP with multi-platinum award winning, legendary producer, Scott Mathews (Orbison, Bowie, Cash, Stones, Beach Boys, Costello, Clapton, Santana, Morrison), from Hit or Myth Productions in California, USA.
The EP was engineered by Tom Luekens (Metallica, Sammy Hagar, Skywalker Ranch, Requiem for a Dream) and features five songs:
How far is heaven? Scarecrow As good a time as any Blue tune All that matters
JT has distribution for his EP through iTunes Australia and has since secured worldwide distribution through the Dead Famous/Astral records platform.
Following intense MySpace interest – including entering the MySpace TOP 5! – JT and band were invited by an international restaurant/nightclub chain to play as resident band for 2 months in Nanchang, China. The pioneering tour involved a grueling schedule of 50 consecutive performances to western and local crowds.
JT has received airplay (including internet radio), licensed tunes to TV and compilation CDs in LA, and was a feature artist on Chromatic Records (Germany). JT has prepared demo recordings of his new material to form a debut Album.
