"Amongst quite a large sea of singer-songwriters here in Ireland, many mediocre, it is refreshing to listen to one which stands apart. For me, Dave Caughey from Bangor in Northern Ireland is one such singer-songwriter."http://frequency-ireland.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html The Frequency Ireland In an era when so much music is an example of “style over substance”, Irish singer-songwriter Dave Caughey has gained favourable comparisons with classic singer-songwriters such as Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Neil Young, harking back to a time when the song was king. Dave is a man who isn’t afraid to bare his soul lyrically. His recent self financed debut album, “The Sweetheart Stone, & Other Tales Of Woe”, addresses such weighty issues as coping with the suicide of a loved one, the futility of war, and surviving separation from a lover. Two of his songs have received particular attention, and critical acclaim. “Oak Creek Angels” has been chosen as a fundraising song for a charity which financially supports children orphaned by the AIDS/HIV epidemic in Africa, while “Rosebud” has been featured on Neil Young’s “Living With War” website. Dave is actively seeking film and tv placements for his music, and is happy to write and record new material to suit specific directorial needs.
