After independently selling and distributing over 10,000 copies of his debut freshman effort entitled “The Ever Changing Picture”, singer-songwriter Brad Byrd is poised to establish himself as one of America’s true up and coming musical talents. Born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts this prolific writer a la Ryan Adams, began writing, recording, and performing his music in his early teens. He later went onto college at Syracuse University where he jammed and broadened his musical abilities with buddies Pete Yorn and Adam Cohen (son of the legendary Leonard Cohen). From there, Brad went on to New York City where he would begin cutting demo’s and immersing himself in the East Village music scene. It was during those years where many of the tracks from ‘The Ever changing Picture’ were born.
In 2001 with, at that point, a catalog of over fifty songs Brad made the leap out to Los Angeles in the hopes of finding the “right” producer that could help mold his vision. It wasn’t long before Brad connected with producer, writer, mixer extraodinaire Evan Frankfort (Springstein, Wallflowers, Pete Yorn). Together, they crafted a unique and original sound that accurately captures Byrd’s chord structure, arrangements, and vocal inflections coupled with Frankfort’s lush ambient guitar stylings and studio genius. With the storytelling truths of Dylan, Petty, and Young mixed with the sonic depth of Coldplay, Travis, and U2, Byrd is beginning to carve a niche in the singer-songwriter world.
Byrd’s efforts were recently recognized by newly formed indie label ‘Free Agency Recordings’ spear headed by Ex-EMI record industry veteran Mark Copeland. Free Agency officially released ‘The Ever Changing Picture’ on March 8, 2005 nationally distributed through Navarre, and available at all major retail stores and on line. As the record continues to sell and the buzz continues to grow we hope that you have an opportunity to hitch your wagon onto this up and coming superstar before he becomes a household name. Brad has toured the nation, with 2004 highlight performance as the opening act for Jurassic 5 to a sold out 3,000 plus crowd at Vail Colorado’s Ford Ampitheater, and achieving the #1 most downloaded track with ‘Never Came Back’ at Artist Direct.com. His live show has been heralded as an absolute don’t miss from packing LA and NYC hot spots the Hotel Café and Cutting Room repectively.
